James McAdoo, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound junior forward from Norfolk (Va.) Christian School with strong basketball tradition and a tie to North Carolina in his family, has committed to the Tar Heels. Scout.com ranks McAdoo the No. 2 player in his class.
McAdoo’s uncle, Bob McAdoo, was a second-team Associated Press All-American at North Carolina in 1971-72, when he averaged 19.5 points and 10.1 rebounds and led the Tar Heels to the Final Four. James’ parents, Ronnie and Janet McAdoo, played basketball at Old Dominion.
