I think Tyler Hanson thinks so.

College basketball is steaming toward a crossroads. A game once built on speed, passing and quick movement has become bogged down by ever-bigger players focused on physical play.

Speaking of too rough, did everyone see Ellington get mauled yesterday? It was unnecessary but Ellington was alright and the refs called the technical. I ran into a problem though when the announcers said it was Ellington's fault. They claimed that he shouldn't have gone to the basket when his team is ahead by that much. What is he supposed to do, give the ball back to Ga Tech? After they said this, the announcers proceeded to criticize Roy for still having his starters in. There was still five minutes left in the game. There are only two games left in the regular season, the Heels are only leading the conference by one game, and one of the remaining games is against the second place team (Booo Duke). Roy can't sacrifice getting his starters playing time for the sake of politeness. But wait, the announcers still aren't done. They also criticized Zeller for going for the dunk on the break away when he got hurt. First of all, he's not a starter. He's freshmen (granted an exceptional one) who needs experience. Secondly, there's no mercy rule in college basketball. The losing team is not granted the right to beat the crap out of their opponent after they get down by twenty points. Ridiculous.
