Tar Heels might make a stop in Long Beach
Long Beach State administrators are in discussion with their University of North Carolina counterparts about getting Roy Williams' Tar Heels to play the 49ers in the Long Beach Arena.

A game isn't likely to be scheduled next season but could take place the following season, when Southern California-based Tar Heels Larry Drew (Taft High) and David and Travis Wear (Mater Dei) are scheduled to be a junior and sophomores, respectively.

Williams' teams have played in Southern California twice in four seasons, three years ago in the L.A. Sports Arena against USC and this past November at UC Santa Barbara, when the team stopped in Southern California en route to Hawaii for the EA Sports/Maui Invitational.

That doesn't surprise me, Roy seems to have some great connections in Cali, as shown by all our great recruits from there. I'm sure he tries to keep that alive by scheduling games there and it gives our Left Coast kids a chance to have their families and friends see them play. Let's see, who all recently was from Cali? Quentin Thomas, Alex Stephenson, the Wears, Larry Drew. I'm sure there's some that I'm forgetting, is there anyone else?
